Week 2 Begins!

Brian:
‘Bout to get started on Week 2 and we’re both pretty excited. It’s a 10pm start, and we’ll be getting right into shooting the first of the final scenes. Who knows how late we’ll go (wanna take bets?) but we’ve been off 4 days and have watched ten movies (son of rambow and reservation road were by far the best) so we’re definitely ready to cure our boredom with some action.

Prolly post some pics later too ‘cos we’re both so excited about these final scenes.

Shooting: Day Three or the shoot from the black lagoon

So it is 5 in the morning right now. Driving home from a twelve hour shoot that can only be described as the bitter winter. My kyphone said it was 30 degrees which isn’t bad… But you add in the wind and that fact that the location was ten feet away from a lake. The lake’s name is Fond du Lac which is freeze for “really freaking cold”.

Today Brian and I mastered the art of sleeping in a car between shot setups. Some of the crew were amazed at our ability to roll out of dream state and speak so eloquently (lots of dudes and mans) into the camera.

The picture below is one of me between takes, hiding behind a tree, wearing what appears to be a fruity pink blanket. Brian says of brought out the pineapple sparkle in my eye.

That’s it for today. We have to wake up in six hours to do it all again.

The Penny: Sooooo cold

Snow, awesomeness and wildlife
Hey! Brian here.

Last time we posted I mentioned a flurry… a “flurry” of snow.
Well. That didn’t last long.

See, we were sitting in a car, during a scene where our characters pull over onto the side of a deserted road, and in the far distance, to the left, we see a whisk of snow – this completely horizontal, seemingly self-contained gust of snow. Now, we’re in the middle of a shot, mind you. Just stopped the car, pulled the e-brake, said a line or two and got out to walk to the back and pop the trunk and then SHOOM – we’re nuked with a wall of white. Like horizontal flying screaming snow. (Picture the Smoke Monster from Lost when Ben set it loose on the soldiers in season 4) It was so cool (and beautiful) and we felt so badass walking through it.

Now, they can’t use the shot because it’s be out of continuity with the rest of the scene – and we had to race inside to let it pass – but it was a great experience.

Shooting continues to go well and the crew is awesome. We’re both really enjoying this process, and we wraped our first chronological scene in the movie yesterday and film the next two tonight. Surrounded by drug dealers in a park at night.

On a more serious note: Kyle and I have created a hard core work out plan: and I’ve learned that Kyle runs like a lunatic gazelle. Or more like a crazed old man in a pair of diapers who escaped from the retirement home and is lookin’ to go frolic with the ducks.

It’s a sight to be seen kyle fans.

Shooting: Day One

Shooting: Day One
Location: sidewalk outside
Temperature: 32 and windy!

Kyle: so we got up really really early. What I learned was that I need to wear more layers when I go running in the arctic tundra (Wisconsin).

Last night we were rehearsing a car scene. I had the idea of using the coffee table as our seats. Well, we started “acting” and well…we crushed the coffee table. I am talking flat. We propped the table on it’s two good legs against the wall and we hope the director never finds out.

Anyhoo, we get to the shoot this morning heat warmers in our shoes and in our hands. Saying lines. Having a blast. The crew is great. The scene has a “thug” following us in a car. He is a great guy… And apparently an awesome actor cuz he was creeping me out!

Now I pass it to brian:
And just to clarify – we might have been sitting on the table, but it was Kyle’s side that broke…

This first day has been great so far, and we’ll prolly see dailies tonight.

Hop! We just got a flurry of snow.

The Penny: LGA airport, getting there

Location: LGA airport
Time: 530 in the morning
Temperment: cranky

So I am travelling to Wisconsin, on my way to shoot The Penny. I am way beyond excited for filming. So excited that I couldn’t sleep all night. And when does my insomnia kick in? Right when the lady at the check-in charges me forty dollars because my bag is an inch too big. I lean over and squish the bag down. No avail.

Then it turns out Brian ( costar extraordinaire ) and I have been put on the watchlist. Meaning, for the safety of our nation, I have to be humiliated and molested.

So now, proud to be an American, I am going to try to upload this free speech. The next three weeks are totally going to rock.
